The Formula Student competition is an excellent hands-on oriented educational project, allowing students to design, build and race an open-wheel racecar against other universities in the world.
The Formula Student competition was first introduced by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in the U.S. in 1981, with the first European race held in the U.K. in 1998. The Formula Student race in Hungary has been introduced in 2010, which quickly became one of the most sought after competitions in the region with more than 40 competing teams filling the available spots quickly. The race is held in Gönyű Harbour, just a few minutes drive from Győr and as such, is the “home race” of Szechenyi University.

Immediately after its foundation, the Audi Department of Whole Vehicle Engineering has established the Arrabona Racing Team (“Arrabona” is the latin name of Gyor from the Roman times) in 2014, which quickly achieved success by consistently finishing as the top Hungarian team in the competitions.
